Dozens of states have outlawed any diet advisor who is not a dietitian in exchange for support dietetics associations. One must be a PHD in nutrition from a top university but if you don’t join the Dietetics Association and go through their program and pay their fees one becomes a criminal.
On January 22, Harris received a cease-and-desist letter from the Mississippi Department of Health. Talking about healthy eating on Facebook and getting paid to do it, the department said, could trigger a $1,000 fine and up to six months in jail.
