Another Wave of Business Closures Devastates the Suffering Restaurant Industry
At the end of this Covid episode, if indeed there is ever an end (there will be), we will see that many of the world’s small businesses will have been wiped out. Walmart will stand. Amazon will Stand. McDonalds will stand. But the corner pizza shop? Probably gone.
As the “troublesome” small businesses die off, the big guys who’ve partnered with government will fill in the vacuum. In turn they will be rewarded with more government favoritism and protections. The rest of us will have the choice of working for the government, one of the massive government partnered businesses, or going on the dole.

“We were already hearing from members they were concerned about what another shutdown would do to their chances of staying open,” said Jason Brandt, president and CEO of the Oregon Restaurant & Lodging Association (ORLA), in a press release criticizing Brown’s order. “This latest round of regulations focused on restaurants will trigger an unknown amount of permanent closures impacting the livelihoods of thousands of Oregon families.”
