The NBA’s close relationship with China’s repressive Communist government is extensive and profitable
We’ve recently posted on this relationship. Whether it’s LeBron complaining about pro-democracy protestors in Hong Kong, the firing of the senior Houston Rockets employee for voicing support for those same activists, or the banning of “FREE HONG KONG” on the back of customized NBA jerseys, the National Basketball Association has shown nothing but the warmest regard for the Chinese Communist Party.

In building an outpost in China, the NBA was effectively going into business with the CCP, or Chinese Communist Party. Many of the league’s Chinese partners are state-owned or state-backed firms.
