‘This Week’ With Mary + Polly: Vaccine Passports, ‘Trusted Voices,’ Vaccinating Teens + More

This week, Mary Holland, Children’s Health Defense president, and Polly Tommey, co-producer of “Vaxxed,” cover a range of headlines including the link between blood clots and AstraZeneca’s vaccine, the rising mortality rate in Israel where there’s an aggressive campaign to vaccinate everyone and the story of a man who suffered a debilitating reaction to the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Here are just a few of the highlights:

  • Germany is pushing to allow “certain privileges” for only the vaccinated. In the U.S., the federal government says it won’t mandate vaccine passports, but will help states and businesses develop them. “It’s all part of the United Nations strategy to create a digital identity for every human by 2030,” Mary says.
  • The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has launched an “extremely disturbing” campaign to develop a network of “trusted voices” — churches, entertainers, organizations — to encourage people to create their own community corps of friends and family who will pressure others to get vaccinated.
  • Young people are being offered incentives to get vaccinated, including the “shot for a shot” offers from bars and “the get your vaccine so you can enjoy summer travel” pitch.
  • Doctors for Covid Ethics published an open letter to the European Medicines Agency detailing a long list of concerns about COVID vaccines and demanding answers.
  • Pfizer says its vaccine is “100% effective” in teens. The vaccines can’t be mandated yet, but might be by January 2022. “This is truly tragic as we have no idea what the long-term health effects might be — in young people who have virtually no risk of dying from COVID,” Mary says.
