Actors George Clooney, Adam Baldwin, and John Schneider rip Alec Baldwin for how he handled the gun where he shot the “Rust” cinematographer
We have previously written up about all the obvious firearm safety rules that Alec Baldwin failed to follow (see here). George Clooney, Adam Baldwin (no relation to Alec), and John Schneider all slammed Baldwin saying that he violated the most basic firearm safety rules. George Stephanopoulos is trying to rehabilitate Alec Baldwin with his interview this week on ABC. Stephanopoulos didn’t ask tough questions, such as why he violated a simple safety rule that you don’t point a gun directly at someone that you aren’t intended to shoot them. Alec Baldwin also makes it very clear that even though he was the executive producer for the film he had no responsibility in hiring staff or actually running the operation of the film.
Surprisingly with all the safety rules that Alec Baldwin broke, he claims that he is not worried about facing criminal charges. “I’ve been told by people who are in the know, in terms of even inside the state, that it’s highly unlikely that I would be charged with anything criminally,” Alec Baldwin told Stephanopoulos. Nor does Alec Baldwin feel any guilt for pointing the gun at H and then (though he denies it) pulled the trigger.
“Do you feel guilt?” Stephanopoulos asked. “No. no,” Baldwin said. “I might have killed myself if I thought I was responsible, and I don’t say that lightly,”
Well, some people in the movie industry don’t share Alec Baldwin’s claim of not having responsibility.
George Clooney has ripped Alec Baldwin’s deadly shooting of the “Rust” cinematographer as “infuriating” and “insane” — insisting the star and his crew appeared to ignore decades-old safety rules used on every other set.
The veteran Hollywood star told Marc Maron’s “WTF” podcast that the death of 42-year-old cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was clearly the result of “a lot of stupid mistakes.”
“Maybe they weren’t even using that gun to do target practice, but they had live ammo with dummies,” Clooney raged of “all this s–t we’ve been seeing with all the Alec Baldwin stuff.”
“And that is insane. It’s insane. It’s infuriating,” insisted Clooney. . .
In 40+ years no one’s ever handed me a firearm on set that wasn’t open and easily eyeballed by me personally as to its status, loaded or unloaded. Alec has experienced this same himself as a 40yr film veteran and producer. He was negligent, at best. Period.
. . . Ahead of Baldwin’s interview, a preview was released, which featured Baldwin’s comments, and Schneider, 61, shared his thoughts on the matter in an 18-minute video titled “Seriously Alec?”
Schneider claimed the interview was “all designed to make us feel sorry for Alec Baldwin” and claimed the actor’s teary-eyed emotional responses during the interview were “bulls–t.”
Schneider questioned the conversation, asking whether viewers were supposed to “believe that a gun went off by itself.”
“This is a wonderful business we all work in. We are honored and privileged to be part of it,” Schneider continued. “So when someone takes a crap – which obviously George and Alec have done here and obviously this woman is still deceased. Her family is still without a mother, without a wife. This is absurd.”
The “Dukes of Hazzard” alum said he believes “the propaganda machine” is responsible for perpetuating the idea that Baldwin “is a victim.”
“Three weeks ago, it was a prop gun. Four weeks ago, nobody knew how in the world this real weapon was loaded on the set,” Schneider said. “Today, he didn’t pull the trigger.” . . .
