Biden Judicial nominee has at least two Class A Misdemeanors on his record, repeatedly driving with a suspended driver’s license, but he respects the law
An Federal Bureau of Investigation background investigation into Andre Mathis, Biden’s nominee to serve as the U.S. Circuit Judge for the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, found that he had his driver’s license suspended three times due to driving-related citations. But even worse, he “repeatedly drove with a suspended license.” If you have driven with a suspended license before, it is Class A misdemeanor with up to one year in jail and/or a $2,500 fine. Strangely, the FBI background check was conducted after he was nominated. Democrats are apparently going ahead with his confirmation.
“I do not recall my license being suspended in 2008, nor do I recall a traffic violation in or around 2008 that might have given rise to a ticket and in turn a suspension for non-payment,” [Andre Mathis] wrote, adding that he has “diligently searched” his records, and “cannot find mention of a driving infraction in or around 2008.”
“What I can attest to, however, is that I never knowingly drove with a suspended license, and if my license was suspended at the time, upon receiving notification of that suspension, I would have taken prompt steps to rectify the matter,” Mathis wrote. . . .
“I am not disputing what the record indicates about the license suspension in Alabama, but honestly do not recall receiving any notification about it–and would have taken any such notification very seriously,” he wrote. “I would like to reiterate that I have never knowingly driven while my driver’s license was suspended.” . . .
