A recent study conducted by the Crime Prevention Research Center found there were 22 times more attacks against pro-life groups since the leak in early May of a draft Supreme Court opinion overturning Roe v. Wade compared to attacks on pro-choice organizations.

A research team at CPRC found there were 135 attacks against pro-life organizations and supporters between May 3 to Sept. 24 of this year compared to six attacks on pro-choice groups and supporters.

Attacks on pro-life centers exploded soon after the historic leak in early May. In June, Jane’s Revenge even took credit for some attacks and declared it “open season” on pro-lifers. . . .

. . . “We need to realize that the great majority of mass shootings occur in a gun-free zone,” [Oklahoma Republican state Rep. Jim Olsen] said. “If you took away the gun-free zones, you occasionally would have somebody that wants to do something like that, but they would be quickly neutralized by somebody that’s legally carrying their weapon.”

He added that 18-year-olds can serve in the military, and “carry weapons, and it usually turns out just fine.”

Other experts, including the Crime Prevention Research Center’s John Lott, have argued that the U.S. could do away with gun-free zones to decrease mass shooting incidents.

“These gun-free zones actually serve as magnets for these killers to attack. Because they know they’re going to be more successful in terms of killing,” Lott previously told Fox News Digital. . . .

“Criminals should be deathly afraid,” says Toure. “If you’re robbing people and carjacking, I want you to know that we’re gonna arm our community to deal with you very, very properly.”

More guns in the hands of citizens, he says, deters criminals.

There is evidence for that. Economist John Lott, author of “More Guns, Less Crime,” points out that crime usually drops in states that approve concealed carry laws. The explanation is that criminals in those states fear that their victims could be armed. . . . .

. . . John Lott — founder of the nonprofit Crime Prevention Research Centercritic of gun control legislation and author of books including “More Guns, Less Crime,”  — co-authored a 2001 study that found no evidence safe storage laws decrease juvenile accidental gun deaths or suicides.

Lott’s findings and methodology has been criticized by many researchers, but he has in turn argued those scholars’ methods have flaws.

“Safe-storage laws increase violent and property crimes against low-risk citizens with no observable offsetting benefit in terms of reduced accidents or suicides,” concluded the study from Lott, who is a Detroit native, . . .

Lott, the researcher frequently cited by gun rights advocates, told Bridge that it’s often public health academics — not criminologists or economists — who disagree with his findings. In a 2019 study he co-authored, Lott argued red flag laws had “no significant effect on either homicide or suicide” in both Connecticut and Indiana. . . .

“College campuses generally have low crime rates, but safety is always important, and police can’t always be there. A little over 60 percent of colleges with more than 2,500 students have armed officers, and they average just 2.4 officers per 1,000 students, and only a fraction of those officers are on duty at any point in time,” Crime Prevention Research Center Founder and President John Lott told Fox News in an interview.

“Just like with police off campus, campus security can’t protect everyone,” he stressed, advocating for people to arm themselves for their own protection. . . .

Lott referenced a report that was published by the Crime Prevention Research Center in 2021, which found 12 states mandate that public universities allow permitted concealed handguns on campus. Those states include Texas, Utah, and Mississippi. Another 23 states leave the decision to permit or ban concealed carry firearms up to the individual college or university.

“With all the states that colleges that allow campus carry, we don’t need to guess how it will work out. There is not one instance of a gun fired by someone legally carrying a gun on campus threatening another person or trying to commit a crime,” Lott pointed out.

Colleges are not the only schools that are allowing concealed carry now. High schools and grade schools are reportedly joining in as the threat of violence looms over students. Many have armed teachers following the horrific mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. . . .

To bolster his argument for the flawed logic behind gun-free zones, Steube cited testimony of a witness at the hearing, gun-crime expert John Lott.

Lott reported that between 1950 and 2019, 94% of mass shootings occurred in areas considered gun-free zones. . . .

A Montana district judge ordered Missoula County Monday to keep electronic surveillance video footage of ballot sorting areas during the 2022 midterm elections.

According to the order, the video must be findable for possible future requests under the Freedom of Information Act.

Crime Prevention Research Center‘s Dr. John Lott, the Election Integrity Project and America’s First Legal filed the lawsuit in September.

Missoula County filed an opposition against the injunction in October, but Montana 4th District Judge John W. Larson made the order. . . .
