During their initial investigation, police said the man was trying to break into a car when he was shot. On Thursday, they added that he had pointed a gun at the man who eventually fired the deadly shot.

The 39-year-old man who fired that shot was taken into custody and then released while officers continue their investigation, police said…

Port Arthur police responded around 8:45 p.m. Friday to an aggravated robbery happening at the Church’s Chicken location at 1849 Jefferson Drive. Detectives learned that two suspects armed with handguns were robbing the restaurant, but an armed citizen intervened and a shootout ensued.

“Several shots were fired and both suspects were struck,” the Port Arthur Police Department said in a press release. “The suspects fled the scene and were later located by police officers.”…

Columbus, OH, October 6, 2021 (10 WBNS)

Columbus police responded to the 600 block of Lazelle Street shortly after 11:30 p.m., where they found two men who had been shot. Both men were taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition. According to police, the 32-year-old man, Marcus George, was pronounced dead shortly before midnight.

Prior to heading into surgery, the 36-year-old man told investigators the other man had approached him and shot him in the leg. The man, who police say is a CCW permit holder, fired shots in return, fatally wounding the man.

Police recovered two handguns at the scene. The investigation is ongoing, but there have been no charges filed at this time. Police have not yet identified the suspect…

The family responsible for shooting the accused deputy-killer, Clinton Hurley, is sharing their story about the tense confrontation with the suspect…

Birmingham Sr. said he was over at his son’s house Saturday when Hurley was once again spotted outside the home.

“I was like, ‘This is it. We are going to finish this right now,’” said Birmingham. “I came out and said, ‘Cops are coming. You’re not leaving.’”

“He lifts his shirt and says, ‘Oh yeah?’ and shows me his pistol. I said, ‘Son, he has got a gun! He has got a gun!’ And he’s pulling it out. I’m telling my son. ‘Shoot him! Shoot him!’”

Birmingham Sr. said his son’s gun jammed.

“So [Hurley] turns towards my son and fires off two shots. By that time, my son re-cocked the gun and just blasted the guy right in the chest, then again in the [butt] as he was limping away, still firing.”

Fortunately, the father and son were unscathed. Hurley, however, was injured and bleeding in the nearby gravel…

The homeowner said he doesn’t normally carry a gun but is grateful he decided to that day so he could protect his family…

Officers responded to calls regarding a sexual assault around 10 p.m. on Monday near 600 Automall Parkway. A woman advised officers that a man attempted to rape her.

The victim said she was walking on the parkway, saw a shadow, and the suspect grabbed her, a fight began with the victim striking the suspect multiple times while he tried to pull her pants down, according to the report.

The suspect tried to pull the woman into a wooded area, the woman was able to flee and grab a gun, and began shooting at the suspect, who fled the scene…

Police believe armed good Samaritans shot at thieves who may have been taking a catalytic converter in a west Houston neighborhood Tuesday morning.

According to Houston police, one of the thieves was later found shot to death after he and the other suspects crashed in a white BMW while trying to escape the gunfire.

Officers received calls of a shooting in the 9600 block of Long Point at about 6:30 a.m.

Investigators said three to four males were stealing catalytic converters from a parked Toyota Tacoma at the corner of Long Point and Springrock when they were shot at by a person or people…

Deputies were called to a shooting at the Lighthouse Smoke & Vape Shop on South Dixie Highway just after 4 a.m.

When they arrived, they found a burglary suspect suffering from a gunshot wound or wounds.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Teri Barbera said detectives learned that the suspect threw a rock through the store window, which sounded the burglar alarm and notified the business owner.

Barbera said the owner arrived and confronted the suspect, leading to the shooting…

Mobile police have released more details on a shooting that happened Friday afternoon on Robinson Drive off of Dauphin Island Parkway.

Police say when officers arrived at the 2100 block of Robinson Drive, they found a woman with a gunshot wound to the leg. She was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Upon further investigation, officers determined the woman stabbed the person who shot her with a knife, and the person shot toward the ground at the woman, striking her in the leg. Police say the person acted in self-defense…

Spotsylvania deputies were called around 9 p.m. on Oct. 15 to the Bank of America ATM in the 10300 block of Courthouse Road.

The victim told deputies that he was using the ATM when a man came up to him in a threatening manner. The victim said the suspect started to hit him.

Deputies said that’s when the victim, a concealed weapon permit holder, pulled out his gun and shot several times at the suspect, who ran off towards Mill Garden South Subdivision…

Turner is charged with attempted robbery and is being held in jail without bond.

According to the criminal complaint filed in the case, Sanchez and two others were seen walking from the mall’s center court to the JC Penney wing of sprawling shopping center shortly before 2:30 p.m. Surveillance video showed two others, Elijah Deliz, 18, and Sergio Vargas, 30, confronted Sanchez and his companions near a jewelry store and began fighting…

Sanchez then pulled a handgun – a Glock Model 17 that had been reported stolen in September in Lebanon County – from the waistband on his pants and fired twice at Deliz, the complaint states. One shot hit Deliz in the left thigh; the other struck a 30-year-old woman, a bystander, in her right arm…

The gunfire attracted the attention of an armed bystander, described as a 50-year-old man who was legally carrying a handgun, who approached Sanchez and Vargas. The man saw the two fighting and, nearby, another person, Deliz, who said, “I’ve been shot.”

Sanchez then fired again, the bullet passing through both Deliz and Sanchez’s hands and striking a wall near the bystander. 

The armed bystander then fired three shots, one hitting Sanchez in the elbow, and told the suspect to stop moving, according to the complaint. The man then approached, kicked Sanchez’s gun out of reach and held him at gunpoint while awaiting help to arrive. Other shoppers provided first aid to Sanchez.

Adams said the bystander’s actions were not only justified, but that he “potentially and likely prevented further injury” by taking action…

The three boys clearly seen in the Ring video went to the woman’s West Park home around 7:30 p.m. Monday.

She said she breeds exotic dogs and figured they were there to inquire about them, but she said she noticed something seemed a bit off and asked, “What the hell is going on here? As soon as I turned around, that’s when he grabbed me, and his boys got all frantic.”

One of the men grabbed the woman, holding her at gunpoint, and there was a struggle…

The trio took off with two micro bullies. They are worth about $4,000 each.

The robbers didn’t leave quietly either, shooting at the woman, which is when she goes into her home to grab her gun…

Broward Sheriff’s Office investigators said the woman was defending her home and that she is not facing any charges…

A man was wounded during a shootout with an armed robber at a gas station in South Deering on the South Side.

The man, 26, was in the 10300 block of South Torrence Avenue when a gunman got out of a black Dodge Charger and announced a robbery, Chicago police said.

The man pulled out his own gun and exchanged fire with the robber and was struck in the leg, police said. He drove to Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Calumet City, where he was listed in fair condition…

A would-be robber is now in critical condition after deputies said he pointed a gun and tried to rob a man in north Harris County Wednesday morning.

Deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a shooting in the 9500 block of Sunnywood Drive around 11:30 a.m.

Deputies said the 24-year-old victim told investigators he was walking home from a job interview when a white Ford transit van with two men pulled next to him.

The victim said a man got out of the passenger side of the vehicle and approached him with a gun. Deputies said the victim then shot the suspect several times before the driver of the white-colored Ford van sped off, leaving the passenger shot in the road…

A man fired from a south central Nebraska grain complex Thursday returned to the facility and started shooting at his former colleagues killing two, and injuring another according to the Nebraska State Patrol…

After hearing the initial shots fired in the office, an employee grabbed a shotgun kept at the site for the use of pest control. By the time Hoskinson had entered the manager’s meeting, that employee shot Hoskinson, causing him to fall to the floor and drop the handgun. The employee then retrieved the handgun from the incapacitated Hoskinson…

Authorities say they will not be releasing the name of the employee who shot Hoskinson, and do not expect him to face any charges for the incident.

In one video, three men were seen approaching Joyner as he was pumping gas at a station in the 1700 block of Castro Street. That’s when the suspects searched him for his valuables and car.

Joyner then pulled out a gun, shooting and killing one of the men.

The suspects then returned fire, hitting Joyner six times.

Following the incident, Joyner spent some time in a hospital but is now recovering at home…

Around 1 a.m. in Chicago on Sunday, police say two teenagers met up with a 29-year-old man selling an Xbox gaming console on North Octavia in Dunning.

The seller said that one of the teenagers tried to walk off with the console and the other pulled out a gun.

The seller pulled out his own gun and shot one of the teenagers in the shoulder and the other in the head. The 19-year-old was listed in fair condition and the 15-year-old was hospitalized in critical condition…

A gas station employee shot a man who was attempting to steal a bottle of liquor in Affton Monday night, according to police.

St. Louis County police told News 4 a man attempted to steal from the Phillips 66 in the 4100 block of Mackenzie Road around 10:45 p.m. After a brief verbal confrontation, the suspected robber was shot by the employee while running out of the store.

The man who was shot was later taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, the victim of an attempted car theft left the market to find Jaden Webb, 20, in the driver’s seat of his Ford Taurus. It had been left unlock and running.

Police say the victim confronted Webb, who hit the gas and tried to flee, dragging the victim with it. Webb then crash into an SUV. Metro Police said Webb arrived at the market in the SUV, which had been stolen.
