They found two men, ages 25 and 26, standing by their vehicles. The men said three men had approached them, pulled out guns and started shooting…

The two men, who police said had valid permits to carry, fired back. No one was injured, but a bullet hit an elementary school and several vehicles were hit…

Aurora, CO, May 1, 2021 (Sentinel Colorado)

Police have accused Aurora resident Vernon Cardel Anderson Jr. of crashing into a car parked in the 1600 block of Florence Street at about 3:30 a.m. May 1, investigators said on Twitter.

The owner of the parked car then confronted Anderson, who proceeded to shoot the car owner in the stomach, according to police. The wounded car owner then returned fire, shooting Anderson in the hip as he was attempting to run away, investigators said.

Authorities located Anderson about two blocks away a short time later. He was arrested after a short foot chase, according to police…

The woman’s unarmed husband gets out of the car and the man begins to charge at him with a sharp object.

The husband backs up several yards, trying to get away.

“The wife stepped out of the vehicle and shot one round, striking the suspect/victim in the throat,” Chiaramonte said…

They were released last night after going to the police station for questioning. Officials say there are no plans to pursue charges for the shooting…

As 19 News first reported, the 61-year-old owner of Captain Tony’s Pizza in the 13200 block of Shaker Square shot a former employee back on May 4.

Inchul “Scott” Kim told Cleveland Police he acted in self-defense and shot the 29-year-old man after he was verbally and physically assaulted at his restaurant…

Kim told police he had Simpson walk outside the restaurant to continue the conversation, and that’s when Simpson allegedly hit him several times on the head and poked the pizza shop owner’s eyes. Kim told police Simpson threatened to come back with another man to beat him again…

When he went outside to his car, Kim said Simpson approached him with what he said was a baseball bat.

“So I pulled the gun from my car. I said, ‘stop it.’ He didn’t stop. I didn’t want to shoot him, so I tried to scare him,” Kim told the dispatcher.

Kim told police he tried to shoot toward the ground but ended up hitting Simpson in the leg…

Simpson was taken to a local hospital and was expected to make a full recovery. Meanwhile, Kim was arrested by police but has since been released. No charges have been filed.

Police arrested an 18-year-old in connection to an afternoon shooting on May 5 along Interstate 95, near Route 620, in Chesterfield.

“The investigation reveals that a Jeep SUV was traveling north in the center lane when it was fired upon by a gray Toyota SUV in the right lane,” an email from Virginia State Police read. “The driver of the Jeep returned fire. The Jeep pulled over to the right shoulder immediately after the shooting. The Toyota did not stop.”…

Arkell Browder, 18, of Petersburg, was arrested May 18 and charged with shooting from a motor vehicle, reckless handling of a firearm, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony…

Officers responded to the area of the Franklin Park Golf Course around 4:45 p.m. after receiving 911 calls reporting shots fired. When they arrived, they arrested Wayne Straw, 38, of Dorchester, on charges of aggravated assault.

A witness – who police said is licensed to carry a firearm — allegedly saw Straw threaten the woman and tried to stop what was happening…

The Good Samaritan who stepped in to help told Boston 25 News that he brought his legal firearm onto the golf course because, he said, the employee said the attacker was choking her. Venon and his friends said the Good Samaritan was trying to control the suspect at gunpoint…

The Good Samaritan said he fired a shot in the air after the suspect reached for a knife in his waistband. When police arrived they took both men into custody, but the Good Samaritan has not been charged. That Good Samaritan told us he has the legal firearm for his own safety…

Police reported the man had been walking his dog around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday when he started to yell and “became aggressive towards people” on the sidewalk around Silver Lake, according to Everett police.

Two of those people were a grandmother and her granddaughter, who were in the 11300 block of 19th Ave SE.

Several men tried to intervene, police said Wednesday. The man used pepper spray on them and struck them with a baton.

One of the other men had a pistol. He shot the alleged aggressor twice, police said…

Police spoke with “numerous” witnesses at the scene. Officers detained the shooter, who cooperated with them. He was not arrested…

Two women were shot early Thursday in Austin on the West Side and one of them returned fire but did not hit the gunman, according to Chicago police.

The two, 24 and 25, were standing on the sidewalk in the 4800 block of West Quincy Street when someone they knew walked up and fired, police said. The 24-year-old, a concealed carry card holder, returned fire…

No one was in custody.

One person was shot yesterday in the 600 block of South Route 59…

Responding officers secured the area and attempts at locating a suspect were met with negative results. During the initial investigation it was also learned that a citizen, who possessed a valid Illinois Concealed Carry License, used their personal firearm to shoot at the suspect. After this occurred, the suspect fled the area. A short time later, officers responded to an area hospital when it was learned the victim had arrived for treatment of non-life-threatening gunshot injuries.

After a night out at a casino, Leonard Molina and his son stopped at an ATM near 98th Street and Central. They were getting cash so they could buy some food late Saturday night…

While at the ATM, Molina said someone approached them with a gun.

“He lifted the gun, put it to my son’s head – he said something. My son immediately reacted by pushing the hand away,” Molina said. “That’s when he started firing into the vehicle.”

Multiple shots fired, inches away from his son’s head…

Molina’s son was not hit, and able to drive a short distance forward…

“The other individual in the vehicle looked like he was getting out. Once I seen him get out and have something in his hand, my instincts were fire back, which I did,” Molina added.

Molina believes he hit one of the suspects…

“Me, my son, my wife, my daughter, everybody is carrying a gun at this point because of the people that’s out there that just have no care in life,” he said. “They don’t care about life.”

The shooting happened Saturday around 8:30 a.m. in the 7400 block of John Smith Drive, near the intersection of Wurzbach and Babcock roads on the Northwest Side.

A man who arrived with a woman at the facility pulled out a gun and shot at the woman but missed, Ramos said during a morning press conference near the scene.

A person who was with a group of protesters near the clinic saw the shooter and used his handgun to fire at the man, police said. Police said the protester had a license to carry the pistol.

“It is still under investigation… you have a right to defend somebody else,” Ramos said. “… He did something a reasonable person would do. He saw someone engaged in a shooting and so he went and stepped in and intervened and stopped that shooting from occurring.”…

A man who was arrested for shooting a car prowling suspect Sunday will not be charged, the Pierce County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Just after 11 p.m. Sunday, police were called to the 2500 block of South G Street for a report of shots fired.

Officers spoke with a man who said he saw another man breaking into his car. Tacoma police said the car owner shot the suspect during a confrontation.

The suspect fled, but the car owner followed the man and called 911…

Police said the shooter, 32, was arrested and booked into jail for investigation of first-degree assault. On Tuesday, a spokesman for the Pierce County Prosecutor’s Office said charges would not be filed.

“All indications are that the person whose car was prowled acted in self-defense after being advanced on by the other party, who was holding an object to use as a weapon,” the sheriff’s department said…

A north St. Louis gas station employee was shot during an attempted robbery late Monday night.

Just before midnight police were called to the BP station off Natural Bridge and Kingshighway. Police told News 4 the clerk was chasing after a 17-year-old who had taken items from the store when the two exchanged gunfire. An officer on an unrelated assignment took the suspect into custody after a brief foot pursuit…

Bolingbrook police said that at around 11:46 p.m. Monday, officers were called to the 600 block of Cambridge Way for a report of a person shot in the stomach…

Authorities said the man reported that he was inside his home when he “heard a noise outside and saw the dome light lit on his vehicle.”

Police said he then grabbed a handgun and went outside to investigate, saying it appeared multiple people were breaking into his car.

One of the suspects opened fire on the man, who then returned fire, according to police, who said the suspects then fled the area…

Destin, FL, May 21, 2021 (WEAR)

Deputies say a fatal shooting outside a Destin nightclub in May has been ruled as a “justifiable homicide” by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting happened on May 21 outside of Coyote Ugly Saloon in Destin, claiming the life of a 26-year-old Crestview man.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office says the man died from a single gunshot wound to the torso during a physical fight. The altercation broke out after the club closed in the early morning hours of May 21.

“Witnesses say he then got out from a vehicle recklessly firing a weapon in multiple directions,” deputies say of the Crestview man. “A 22-year old Montgomery, Alabama man and his friends were in the immediate area where the rounds were being fired.”

The Alabama man told OCSO investigators that he fired 6-7 shots in return because he was concerned for the safety of himself and his friends…

The State Attorney’s Office reviewed and approved the findings.

Riverside, CA, May 21, 2021 (The Mercury News)

An ex-employee of a Riverside barbershop stabbed two former co-workers before being shot to death by one of his victims on Friday evening, May 21, the Riverside Police Department said…

Railsback said that about 6:40 p.m., a man entered the shop and started an altercation. He then stabbed one man, and when a second man intervened, he was stabbed as well.

The second victim then got a gun and fired at the attacker…

Detectives have not determined a motive for the attack, Railsback said. Detectives considered the shooting to be self-defense, although the District Attorney’s Office will have the final say on whether charges are filed against the shooter.

Atlanta police will not be seeking charges after one man was fatally shot and another was found with a stab wound in the same southwest Atlanta neighborhood.

Both incidents happened in the 2300 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive early Thursday morning, according to police. The victims have not been identified.

Officers were called to the area about 2:30 a.m. and found the shooting victim dead in the middle of the road. According to Channel 2 Action News, he was shot in the back of the head and was found with a box cutter.

Around the same time, officers were alerted to the stabbing. That victim was stable when he was taken to a hospital, police said…

“After additional investigation, (this) is now considered a felon killed by a citizen,” a police spokesman said Friday in a statement. “No charges are anticipated.”

The police department typically uses that language in cases where someone is killed while committing a felony act. No further information about the two incidents or their connection was released Friday.

Long Beach, CA, May 28, 2021 (KFI AM 640)

Authorities determined that a man who shot and killed a 17-year-old alleged robber in Long Beach last month did so in defense of a victim, it was announced today.

Officers arrived at the scene of the shooting and found a mortally wounded Guillermo Mayorga III, of Riverdale, Georgia, in a hotel parking lot in the 3600 block of Santa Fe Avenue about 11:20 p.m. on May 28, according to coroner’s Lt. David Smith and the Long Beach Police Department. He was pronounced dead at the scene…

A preliminary investigation revealed Mayorga attacked his victim in the parking lot while his accomplice joined in the robbery, police said. Mayorga fired multiple rounds from a handgun, striking the robbery victim and his accomplice, who fled on foot.

The fight continued between Mayorga and the robbery victim until a third person — described only as a man — became involved and shot Mayorga, police said. That man then fled the scene.

The man turned himself in to Long Beach Police Department Headquarters at about 3 p.m. Thursday and was interviewed by detectives.

Investigators determined that the man’s actions were in defense of the original robbery victim, which police said was corroborated by supporting evidence and video surveillance footage.

The man, whose name was not released, was not arrested and detectives plan to present the facts of the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office once their investigation is complete, police said…

On Friday, May 28, Houston police responded to reports of a shooting in the 3100 block of Fountain View Drive.

Police said a man pulled into the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant to grab something out of his trunk when a suspect approached him with a gun and demanded his belongings.

The man told police he resisted the suspect and attempted to grab his own gun, but was shot seven times — once in the chest, four times in the left leg, once in his right leg, and once in his hand. While being shot at, police said the victim was able to grab his gun and fire back at the suspect, possibly striking him. Police said the victim was then able to get back into his vehicle and drive to a local hospital…

Police reported that, on May 29, a domestic altercation occurred inside City Bar and patrons forced the suspect, identified as Holcomb, to leave the bar.

Holcomb reportedly returned to the bar and was forced to leave a second time, this time by physical force.

Once outside, Holcomb allegedly drew a 9 mm firearm from his waistband and began firing in the direction of the crowd of people, injuring three.

One patron of the bar reportedly went to his vehicle, acquired a firearm and returned fire with his own 9 mm, hitting Holcomb, who was taken into custody outside another baron North Parkerson Avenue…

Officers were called to the Alltown Fresh on Dixwell Avenue on May 29, 2021, after getting a report of an attempted carjacking…

According to police, 20-year-old Dulyn Foreman, of New Haven, got out of the stolen vehicle and entered the Meriden man’s vehicle. Foreman allegedly placed the vehicle in reverse and nearly hit a woman that attempted to intervene.

As Foreman tried to exit the parking lot, the vehicle owner exited the store and ran toward the vehicle, authorities said. Foreman then got out of the vehicle and was reportedly in possession of a gun, they added.

The owner of the vehicle then took a gun from his waistband and fired one shot, hitting Foreman in the leg, police said.

Foreman then got back into the stolen vehicle out of Milford and was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital to be treated for his injuries, investigators said…

Police says the preliminary investigation revealed that an adult female was in her vehicle when the male approached her and began to bang on her window and attack her. As a result, she shot him.

Monday evening’s shooting at Midtown unfolded outside a parking garage on the 3100 block of North Miami Avenue. The two men walking their dog live in the area, and were returning home when they were confronted by Otis Brown, 38, of Leigh Acres, who tried to rob them.

According to a source, Brown and one of the men began grappling. The other man, who was legally armed with a Glock, hid briefly behind a post and heard his friend get shot in the shoulder. He emerged from behind the post and exchanged gunfire with Brown, who was hit 11 times.

The dog ran off, but was later rescued. The robbery victims both had their weapons legally, and are not expected to face charges. Investigators believe they acted in self-defense…
