The Birmingham Police Department announced the shooting death of 27-year-old Clifford Savontay Grayson Jr. has been reclassified as a justifiable death investigation from a homicide investigation.

Police said Grayson was found in the driver’s seat of a vehicle that had hit another vehicle at a gas pump on East Lake Blvd on Tuesday, August 3, just after 5:00 p.m…

Police said they believed there was an argument between Grayson and the person of interest before shots were fired…

Following the assessment, the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office ruled the actions justifiable.

An attempted carjacking led to a shooting in Soulard at about 12:45 a.m. Thursday.

It happened on Ann Avenue at South 12th Street.

Police said some people tried to carjack a driver. The driver then shot at the would-be carjackers who ran away…

Travis Antonio Draper, 41, of Pacolet, was found dead Aug. 5 in his car on Highway 295, according to the coroner…

Wright said, just after 6 a.m. Draper was on his way to work on Highway 295 and stopped at a red light. It was then that Draper and another driver had a verbal altercation about that driver being too close to Draper’s vehicle, Wright said.

Wright said the men continued driving down Highway 295 and the verbal altercation continued.

Wright said both men began to increase their speed and drive aggressively while passing other vehicles along the road.

Wright said at this time surveillance video shows Draper chasing the other vehicle through an intersection and almost hitting a vehicle not involved.

Draper then pulled alongside the other driver and pointed a gun at him, according to Wright.

Wright said the other driver pulled his gun and fired one shot at Draper.

Wright said Draper was hit under his armpit and died at the scene…

Wright said after an investigation by the sheriff’s office and the solicitor it was determined that the other driver did not break the law and shot Draper in self-defense…

Pete Adrian, 56, and Lee Reese, 49, exchanged gunfire with each other, officials said. Adrian arrived at the business for an appointment, but was intoxicated and causing a disturbance, an incident report said. Adrian was asked to leave the shop but returned multiple times before brandishing a handgun at Reese, the report said. Adrian fired at Reese, but missed and Reese returned fire, shooting Adrian in the shoulder…

A man was killed, and another man was seriously wounded, in a drive-by Monday night in University Village on the Near West Side.

About 11:10 p.m., the men, 24 and 56, were outside with a large group of people in the 1300 block of West 13th Street, when two males inside a passing black Hyundai Elantra fired shots at them, Chicago police said…

The 24-year-old, who is a concealed-carry license holder, returned fire, but it is unknown if either shooter was struck, police said. The vehicle carrying the shooters crashed into a parked car, and the pair fled the scene on foot…

The sheriff’s office previously said the shooting took place on Garrett Lea Parke in the Motts Landing community around 2 p.m. Monday. One of the workers was injured after he threatened and charged at another man, according to deputies.

A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said the man injured in the shooting was “acting erratic” and was verbally combative with other construction workers throughout the day. He was also combative with deputies and paramedic workers trying to treat his injuries after the shooting.

In a 911 call released shortly after the shooting incident, the caller admitted to dispatch that he shot a man who he claimed was charging at him and threatening him…

The sheriff’s office said after investigating all the evidence and consulting with the District Attorney’s Office, no charges will be filed against the shooter.

Officers with the Reno Police Department responded to a business on the 600 block of East Moana Lane on the report of a shooting at around 3:30 p.m. on August 11. Police said the person was rushed to a local hospital where they later died from a gunshot wound.

Police said all involved in the shooting have been accounted for and are cooperating with the investigation. Officers determined the person was shot while committing an armed robbery inside the business.

Officers determined that no one will be arrested at this time because the shooting was an act of self defense…

Police are investigating a shooting that left two people dead and two others in the hospital. It happened outside a home on the 400 block of Hazel Street on the West Side.

It all started just before 10 p.m. Wednesday night when a driver was traveling at high speed and crashed into a parked car – and then for some reason she got out of the car and started firing.

The owner of the vehicle that was hit, a man in his 50’s, and two others came out to see what happened. That’s when the female driver got out of the car and opened fire, hitting all three people…

“During the shooting, a neighbor from a nearby residence, intervenes, comes to the aids of the victims, opens fire on our suspect, striking her multiple times,” Schuler said.

Schuler said it does not appear that the neighbor who fatally shot Perez will face any charges…

About 12:15 a.m. on Aug. 13, Las Vegas police responded to a shooting in the 3100 block of East Sunset Road. One person died of their injuries at Sunrise hospital, Officer Larry Hadfield told FOX5. Five others were transported to the hospital by private citizens.

Police said several people were loitering and drinking in a parking lot when a fight broke out, and that the person who had died had taken a handgun out of a vehicle and started shooting into a crowd, injuring six older teenagers.

Police said at some point, an unidentified person fired back, striking the initial shooter.

Anthony Emilian, 18, died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office…

Homicide logs maintained by Metro show no one was arrested in Emilian’s death because it was considered self-defense…

A man robbed in Richmond pulled out a gun and shot his assailants, Crime Insider sources told Jon Burkett.

One of the men died as a result of the shooting, the other was taken to the hospital.

LPD officers responded to Commotions at 1200 New Franklin Road, around 12:45 a.m. Saturday, in reference to a person shot. When officers arrived, they made contact with Michael Skidmore suffering from several gunshot wounds to the leg.

Police say Skidmore advised them that he had been shot in the parking lot by another man. Officers found the other man in the parking lot, bleeding ‘profusely’ from his mouth and head.

After an investigation, it was determined that Skidmore physically assaulted the man in the parking lot of the business. Police say the victim feared for his life, pulled his lawfully-carried firearm from its holster and discharged several rounds, striking Skidmore in the leg, while acting in self defense…

Two women were injured and two women were arrested after a shooting outside a supermarket on Sunday, August 15.

Zach Simmers, a spokesman with the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, said it happened at Hubben’s Supermarket in Port Allen, which is located on North Alexandria Avenue, around 4:30 p.m…

According to Hicks, the incident began as an argument in the grocery store between Gaines and two people. He reported the argument later continued in the parking lot. Another person showed up and joined the confrontation, according to Hicks.

Investigators said at some point, Gaines pulled out a gun but one of the other people involved in the argument also drew a weapon and fired in self-defense, injuring the two victims. They added no store employees were injured and the shooter has not been charged…

Police say it happened around midnight at the store in the 1700 block of Colley Avenue in Ghent.

Officers found the man, 28-year-old Javier Garcia, with a life-threatening gunshot wound when they arrived. He later died at the hospital.

Police say their preliminary investigation revealed the clerk shot Garcia during an attempted robbery. Garcia threatened to stab the clerk with a screwdriver…

Tulsa, OK, August 16, 2021 (News on 6)

Police said they responded to a shots fired call in the Taco Bell parking lot near 11th and Gary. They said there was an assault and after initially leaving the scene, the suspect returned with a gun.

Police said the suspect shot at a truck and hit a man inside on the arm who had been assaulted earlier. Officials said the man in the truck pulled out a gun and shot at the assault suspect, hitting him in the arm.

Both are in the hospital, and Tulsa Police said they will take the assault suspect into custody after he recovers.

Birmingham police responded to the 2500 block of Seventh Avenue North at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday on a report of a shooting. Officers arrived to find a 23-year-old man, Marcus Leroy Williams, suffering from a gunshot wound…

Authorities said a motorist, whose name has not been released, was sitting inside a disabled vehicle awaiting assistance when Williams “approached the vehicle naked and acting erratically.”

Williams reportedly opened the motorist’s door and that’s when the motorist shot him. He was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:21 a.m.

Birmingham police investigators presented the case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office which decided no criminal charges would be filed…

Two men were found shot inside the AutoZone at 3230 Gravois around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. One of them, Jerome Williams, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other man was taken to the hospital and later released.

Police said their preliminary investigation suggested Williams, 27, shot at the 25-year-old man following an argument. The victim did return fire. He was taken into custody and released pending further investigation, according to police…

Drew Forkner, 24, of South Sutphin Street, was shot in the torso on Aug. 19 and taken to Atrium Medical Center. Middletown police say he is recovering.

There have been no charges filed against the man who called 911 telling dispatcher he shot a man who was in his car.

The shooting occurred about 11:55 p.m. in the 2300 block of Superior. A resident who came out of his house and fired the shots called 911 after the shooting, according to Sgt. Earl Nelson…

The caller said he is a CCW permit holder and was instructed by the dispatcher to put the gun away. Detectives took possession of the gun in the house when they arrived…

The resident said he heard his alarm go off, then found the man sitting in the driver’s side.

“When I was going to get in the car he opened the door and ran towards me,” the caller said, adding he shot three or four times…

Police received the call at 5 p.m. about the victim of a shooting at the Katy Video store located at 2568 College Street.

Two men, who appeared to be in their late teenage years or early 20s, entered the store displaying handguns and demanding money, the release says.

The suspect and employees exchanged gunfire, but it is unknown if the suspects were injured during the shooting.

Two employees were shot. One employee is in critical condition, and police said the other person is in stable condition…

Houston police said the shooting was reported at a place of business where the gun owner worked in the 8500 block of West Montgomery Road around 1 p.m.

Police said the 27-year-old man walked into the business and asked associates about the 59-year-old man’s whereabouts. Police said the man 59-year-old man was outside on a work break when he and the 27-year-old got into an argument. Police said the 27-year-old pulled out a gun during the fight.

Then, the 59-year-old man told investigators that he pulled out a gun he owned and shot the man in self-defense, according to police. The man who was shot crashed his vehicle in an attempt to flee but then fled the scene on foot, police said. Officers later found him in the area and paramedics took him to a nearby hospital, police said…

Shortly before 10 p.m. on Monday, Oklahoma City police were called to Harkins Theatre in reference to a shooting.

Investigators say a couple was walking when they were approached by a man armed with a gun.

“The man who was armed pointed the gun at the male and demanded his belongings,” said Msgt. Gary Knight.

The suspect robber, identified by police as Travis Prince.

The man he’s accused of holding up, Christopher Cooper, pulled out his own gun and opened fire, killing Prince.

“It appears that the deceased simply walked up to them, decided that is who he was going to rob pointed a gun at them and that is when he was shot and killed,” said Msgt. Knight. “Every citizen has the right to defend their life.”…

Adam Childers was arrested Tuesday on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Teri Barbera said Childers was shot in the elbow at Salad World Grill in the Coco Plum Plaza near Military Trail and Community Drive.

According to the affidavit, Childers had been panhandling outside the business earlier in the day when an unidentified employee asked him to leave. Childers called him a name, threatened to “kick his ass” and then left, only to return about an hour later.

Noticing that Childers was in a dispute with a customer outside, the employee attempted to intervene when Childers pulled out a knife and threatened to kill him, the affidavit said.

As the altercation escalated, the employee pulled out a gun and warned Childers that he needed to leave, but Childers continued to swing the knife at him, so he fired at Childers in self-defense, the report said…

Officers were called around 2 a.m. to Sugar’s strip club in the 2700 block of NW Loop 410, not far from Vance Jackson Road, after receiving word of shots fired.

According to police, a 22-year-old man had walked out of the back door of the strip club and went to his car to leave when he got into an argument with three men. Police said the 22-year-old told a 28-year-old man in the parking lot to move away from his car. The 28-year-old then pulled out a gun and began shooting, police said.

Police said the 22-year-old man pulled out his own gun and returned fire, hitting the man twice in the shoulder. The 22-year-old then ducked behind a vehicle for cover. The wounded man ran to a nearby retail store where he called for help, police said…

The wounded man was taken by EMS to University Hospital and will be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon…

Police were called to the 7-Eleven near Beacon Avenue and Main Street around 3:40 a.m. When they arrived, officers found a man suffering from gunshot injuries…

Police said two people were attempting to rob the store and the victim saw and attempted to intercede with his own firearm. The victim was a customer at the store.

Shots were exchanged and the victim was struck, but the injuries are not life-threatening.

Both suspects fled and police are not sure if either was struck by gunfire…

Melbourne, FL, August 28, 2021 (Florida Today)

A Melbourne barbershop owner shot and wounded a masked gunman who entered the shop Saturday afternoon and pointed a firearm at several people, police said Sunday.

The shooting occurred about 3:25 p.m. Saturday at New York Hair Barber Shop, which is located in a small strip mall on Florida Avenue, just west of Babcock Street, said Melbourne Police Lt. Ryan Schorer.

The gunman, whom police identified as Palm Bay resident Marlon Mascoe, 24, was shot in the hip. He was disarmed and apprehended at the scene by patrons and employees, and is being treated at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Schorer said.

“The investigation revealed that it wasn’t related to a robbery. It was actually related to a prior haircut transaction he was unhappy with, or an interaction inside the business,” Schorer said.

Mascoe has been charged with aggravated assault with a firearm.

Authorities say a fatal weekend shooting along the Kansas Turnpike may have been done in self-defense in response to road rage.

The shooting was reported shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday near the Haysville exit.

One person had a gunshot wound, and two vehicles were stopped in the southbound lanes…

Those involved and witnesses were transported to sheriff investigation, interviewed and released. The sheriff’s office said at the time, the shooting appears to have been in self-defense…

Demetrius Jackson, the man killed in the Lodi Street shooting on Tuesday, was in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun while outside of 1808 Lodi Street, District Attorney William Fitzpatrick said.

Jackson threatened multiple people at the location and fired the loaded handgun in the direction of those people, officials said.

Another man, who was on scene and in possession of a 9mm handgun returned fire striking and killing Jackson, Fitzpatrick said.

According to Fitzpatrick, this man has a valid pistol permit for the 9mm handgun.

The District Attorney said in a statement that based on preliminary investigation, it appears the man who shot Jackson saved the lives of several individuals…

The District Attorney’s Office is aware that the man who shot Jackson and other witnesses to the incident have received threats and suffered property damage in what they say appears to be retaliation…

A would-be robbery victim turned the tables on his attacker, killing the suspect who allegedly demanded money from the man early Tuesday in Capitol Hill. police said.

Police say the man was in the 1000 block of East John Street at 1:12 a.m. when a 24-year-old man tried to rob him.

The 39-year-old man told police he took out his gun and opened fire, shooting the suspect.

Detectives say the potential robbery suspect was rushed to a hospital, where he later died.
