Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Assistant Sheriff Brett Zimmerman said police were called at 11:59 a.m. on Feb. 3 about a man attempting to take a gun from someone’s bag at a CCW class inside The Range 702 gun range…
The 9-1-1 caller said Payton attempted to steal the gun, and that three employees would be standing outside with him to wait for police. At 12:27 p.m., Zimmerman said dispatch was advised that he was becoming aggressive and threatened the employees.
Officer Andrew Nguyen and his partner, who has not been named by LVMPD, arrived on scene and told Payton to stand in front of their vehicle. He refused and police attempted to grab his arm, which is when he produced a screwdriver and attacked the officers.
Zimmerman said Payton made several overhand strikes to the officer’s head and neck, stabbing her. When she fell to the ground, Nguyen and the three employees fired at him…

Springfield police responded at 10:25 p.m. to the Cash & Carry Food Mart in the 1900 block of Mitchell Blvd.
An employee at the store said that the suspect walked in and headed to the cash register. The employee said that the suspect was armed with a gun and was waving for the employee to come to the register, according to an incident report filed by the Springfield Police Division.
The employee reported that he picked up his handgun that was sitting on a stool next to him and fired three shots at the suspect, and that the suspect took off running as the shots were fired.
The employee said he then proceeded to call 911 and lock up the store…

Police made contact with the woman about 11:30 p.m. while responding to West 21st Avenue and Virginia Street for a report of a gunshot victim.
The woman told officers the man became angry with her after she asked him and someone he was dancing with to stop bumping into her inside the bar. She said that’s when the man struck her with a bottle, according to Westerfield.
As the woman was leaving to get into her car, the man followed her and fired a gun, at which point she fired one back while running away, Westerfield said.
The woman escaped in her car and stopped at West 21st Avenue and Virginia Street to call 911 for a pain she felt in her shoulder. An ambulance then transported her to a local hospital for treatment of her wound, Westerfield said…

One of the suspects, later identified as Cameron Ayers, 19, of North Hampton was accused of grabbing alcohol from the store and fleeing. During the scuffle, Ayers “pulled out what the clerk believed to be (was) a handgun,” Reno said.
“In response to the perceived threat, the clerk withdrew from the scuffle and produced a firearm that he had on his person,” Reno said. “The clerk fired a single round at the vehicle. The subjects exited the vehicle and fled the area on foot.”

A neighbor ran into his home, armed himself with a gun, and yelled at Jeremy to stop, but he continued stabbing Lorain, officials said. At that time the neighbor, an 84-year-old man, shot Jeremy and stopped the attack. The neighbor was shaken up but not injured…

The shooting happened around 5:30 p.m. at the Speedway at 5370 Broad Street, off Highway 701, according to officials.
Police say it was determined later by detectives that this may have stemmed from a road rage incident.
A truck appeared to pull up to a gas pump with another truck following behind, police said. The first truck stopped at the pump and the second truck stopped behind the first one. A male got out of the second truck with a what appeared to be a knife and approached the driver of the first truck.
The male with the knife opened the door of the first truck and the driver fired one shot in self-defense, according to police…

The mother of a 23-year-old woman who shot at an attempted robber at a Valero gas station told Local 10 News that her daughter had a legal license to carry the firearm. Miami-Dade police said the victim shot the suspect multiple times during the attempted robbery.
Miami-Dade Police said the shooting took place at 7 a.m. at the gas station near Northwest 79th Street and 13th Court.

No charges were filed in a Valentine’s Day shooting outside the Stump Event Center that left one man dead. The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office said Monday the case is closed…
Witnesses told investigators Ramseur went to get a gun from his car after he was involved in a fight outside the venue, according to the previous release. Ramseur was shot and killed by someone in the parking lot.
Capt. Aaron Turk said following the investigation, the sheriff’s office concluded Ramseur was the first to fire his weapon and shot into the crowd of people.
The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office turned their findings over to District Attorney Scott Reilly’s office where officials declined to charge the person who shot Ramseur, Turk said.
Turk added that the sheriff’s office will not release the name of the person who shot Ramseur since the person was not charged. Turk said that decision is partly for the person’s protection.

A shooting death at a Joplin motel has been ruled self-defense.
Authorities say the un-named adult man was defending himself when he fired shots at the Motel 6 at 29th and Range Line back on February 15th. The shooting resulted in multiple injuries to 43-year old Matthew Painter – who later died.
An autopsy confirmed the initial findings – which lead to the final determination of self-defense.

Later that night, around 8:50, two men stopped a gray Chevy Cruz in front of a man walking near 18th and Vine streets and hopped out of the car, police said. The driver then pulled out a gun and pointed it at the 21-year-old victim as the second man began to frisk him.
The gunman then brought the gun closer to the victim’s body as the other man pulled out his wallet and cellphone, investigators said.
Fearing for his life, the victim — who has a license to carry — pulled out his 9mm handgun and fired two shots, police said. He then fired a third shot after being knocked down before running off…
The man remained unidentified and no charges were announced as of Tuesday afternoon.

Police said it happened before 9:30 a.m. at Staff Zone on Old Winter Garden Road. The business is a day labor office and offers short-term employment.
Records show 31-year-old Oraine Mitchell Grant came into the business seemingly upset with a large knife, later identified as a machete. Grant argued with a woman and a man who worked there, then went to stab the employees, investigators said. Officers said as Grant was trying to lunge at the employees, one of the workers shot him.
After the shooting, Grant ran off on foot, according to authorities…

Police were called around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday to a parking lot on Blanco Road and Northwest Loop 410 near Lockhill-Selma Road.
Police said when they arrived the found the suspect in the passenger seat of a Cadillac with a gunshot wound in the face.
Police said the suspect was at the Isom Food Mart on Isom Road when he walked out of the store without paying for his items. The suspect allegedly pulled a gun on the store clerk when he was confronted.
As the suspect was getting into the Cadillac, the clerk shot the him with his own gun, hitting the suspect in the face…
At this time, it doesn’t appear the clerk will face any charges.

Tuscaloosa Police contacted the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit at around 11:15 p.m. Thursday about a shooting in the 300 block of James I. Harrison Jr. Parkway that left a 13-year-old boy dead.
Officers found a handgun close to the boy’s body, police said.
“While police were still on scene(,) two males pulled up and identified themselves as being involved and claimed that they acted in self(-)defense in shooting the male,” Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit said.
The two subjects, who police said are in their late teens, were taken into custody and interviewed. As of 5:10 a.m. Friday, no charges have been filed…

In an emailed statement to NOLA.com, Michael Mayer, an executive at the gun outlet, defended Fischbach’s actions.
“What I can say, is that our store was attacked by Joshua Williams on (Feb. 20) around 3 p.m. He walked in our store and was asked by our compliance officer to unload his firearm before entering,” Mayer wrote, adding, “(Williams) became agitated by the request and pulled his gun out of his pants and started firing. Our armed and trained employees, as well as some armed, permitted customers, returned fire and eliminated the threat. One customer as well as one employee perished in the gun battle. Joshua Williams, the gunman, is also dead.”

The shooting appears to be justified since the truck driver was defending himself, Ballance said.
It happened around 5 a.m. at the Pot Luck Liquor parking lot on U.S. Highway 371. The truck driver had permission to park his rig there overnight and sleep.
The driver told deputies he was awakened by a man trying to break the glass out of his tractor as he was in his sleeper. The driver told the man to stop, but he went around to the other window, grabbed the outside rearview mirror and was hanging on it in attempt to kick in the window, Ballance said.
That’s when the driver fired four shots. It’s uncertain how many times the man, identified as Jonathan Raney, 35, of Ringgold, was hit. He was taken to Ochsner LSU Health, where he died…

Police are investigating two separate shootings Monday in Detroit where potential robbery victims had guns of their own and fired back, wounding their attackers.
The first took place about 12:40 a.m. at a BP gas station on the 2100 block of Gratiot, said Latrice Crawford, a Detroit Police Department spokeswoman. That’s on Detroit’s east side, at St. Aubin.
Police say a man, 29, was pumping gas into his black Dodge Ram 1500 when a man, 30, approached him, armed, and demanded he give up his vehicle.
The victim, who holds a concealed license permit, had a gun, too, and fired at the man, who also fired his gun.
Both men were hit. The victim was shot in the leg. Medics transported him to a hospital, and he’s listed in temporary serious condition.
The man who tried to take his vehicle fled on foot, but a susp was arrested a short time later. He had been shot in his buttocks, police said, and is listed in serious condition.
Two hours later, about 2:40 a.m. on the 14200 block of Mack, east of Chalmers, a 43-year-old man exchanged gunfire with a man who tried to rob him.
Police say the victim was outside a building when a man, 35, allegedly approached him.
The two men fought and gunfire was exchanged, and both men were wounded. The victim was listed in temporary serious condition…

Port Arthur, TX, February 28, 2021 (PA News)
The violence that took place at approximately 5 p.m. Feb. 28 at Econo Lodge & Suites is detailed in a recently-released probable cause affidavit for the arrest of Avery Solis, a Groves man charged with aggravated robbery.
Port Arthur Police were called to the motel, located at 4500 Texas 73, and found a woman who had been shot twice and a man who had been assaulted.
The two claim Solis, 26, and two unidentified people arrived at the motel and Solis allegedly assaulted the man while brandishing a handgun and demanding property, the document states.
A second suspect forced his way into the motel room along with Solis and demanded property from the woman.
The male victim, outside the motel room at this point and reportedly “fearing for his life,” fired his handgun through the window into the room.
Police believe Solis returned fire from inside. The woman, who was armed with a handgun and inside the room, shot Solis in the foot and back. She then ran from the room and was shot by Solis in the arm and back, according to the document.
Solis and the other suspects left the scene with a backpack, which was inside of the room and belonged to the couple…
