A vehicle owner confronted and shot a burglar inside of their vehicle, according to police. The suspected burglar and shooting victim were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the incident report, an armed man, identified as Gregory O’Bryan Excell, tried to start a fight with an employee at Phone & Pad Repair, but the man he approached was also armed.
Surveillance video shows Excell apparently showing his gun, which, police said, he had a permit for. The report states Excell then got into his silver sedan but continued to threaten the victim by pointing his gun at him…
According to the report, Excell drove away but returns a while later. This time, he stopped in the roadway in front of the victim and his workplace.
That’s when, 7News has learned, the victim, who feared for his life, shot his firearm at Excell’s car. He struck the vehicle, but no one was injured.
Excell then took off. Police later arrested him at his home and charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon…

A Lyft driver has been fired by the ridesharing service after she admitted to firing her legally-owned and licensed gun during an attempted carjacking.
Cynthia Norman said she picked up a pair of young men — likely in their 20s — at an apartment complex in Cleveland’s Nottingham neighborhood around 1:00 a.m. Sunday…
Norman said the other passenger, breaking Lyft’s COVID-19 protocol, insisted on sitting in the front seat.
She said he started punching her in the face as the man in the backseat choked her…
Norman told 19 News she then grabbed her gun from the center console and started shooting.
The two men fled on foot, leaving behind the cell phone they stole from her…
According to a police report obtained by 19 News, the men are facing attempted kidnapping and attempted aggravated robbery charges…

A fatal shooting at a Covington nightclub in January was justified, according to authorities.
The shooting occurred just before closing time on Jan. 10 at 30 Something bar on Greenup Street.
An investigation by the Kenton County Prosecutor’s Office and Covington police found the shooter fired to protect his cousin because the victim had put a gun to the cousin’s abdomen and threatened to kill him…
Authorities say Lewis threatened to Kill Lucas, and that’s when Lucas’s cousin, Steven Ware, stepped in.
“He drew that gun, firing one shot, striking Mr. Lewis in the head and unfortunately killing Mr. Lewis,” Sanders said…
Ware’s attorney sent FOX19 NOW the following statement:
“This case is nothing short of tragic and at no time did Steve envision that he would have to use his weapon that evening. Thankfully for him, for Mr. Lucas and for the other people outside the bar, he was armed and vigilant, or this could have resulted in many more dead at the hands of Mr. Lewis.”

On January 12, the victim was traveling eastbound when a gray Nissan Altima pulled up on his passenger side and fired a shot, striking a window, authorities said.
The victim said he fired back and then followed the suspect to get his tag number. Once he obtained the information, he pulled over at James and North Cliffe and called police.
Authorities said the information provided came back to a man named Ronald Childress, 21. Childress was located and charged with aggravated assault and employment of a firearm.

Police said Hill pulled a gun on the man and then the man, who has a CCW permit, pulled out his own gun.
Hill was shot when he and the man exchanged gunfire, police said.
The man who shot Hill stayed at the scene.

The woman told the officer she went to make some purchases at the gas station earlier when men sitting in two cars parked nearby began catcalling her.
She was driving out of the gas station parking lot when a black man with dreadlocks ran up to her car, yanked open the driver side door and tried to pull her out of the vehicle, Westerfield said.
The man then tried to choke the woman, so she pulled out a gun and fired at him, causing him to stumble backward.
It wasn’t clear whether the man was struck by gunfire, Westerfield said.

On Friday around 9:30 p.m. police said a 57-year-old man went to the 9300 block of Woodside thinking he was meeting up with a woman he met on a dating website.
When the man arrived, police said he was met by an 18-year-old man who attempted to rob him at gunpoint. The 57-year-old, who has a concealed pistol license, took out his gun and fired at the 18-year-old, police said.
Both men were hit multiple times and taken to the hospital where they were listed in critical condition…

The guard, age 22, left his car running briefly while he ran into the store at 1372 North Milwaukee around 11:20 p.m., the report said. When he walked back out, he saw someone driving away with his black 2017 Hyundai SUV, according to CPD.
He then fired shots toward the car and the auto thief returned fire, police said in a media statement. The guard told police the offender then got out of the stolen car and climbed into the passenger seat of a black SUV waiting in the 1400 block of North Milwaukee.
Police said the offenders fled and the guard recovered his car.
CPD did not indicate what prompted the guard to fire his weapon, but the department said he is a concealed carry holder and no charges are pending.

Around 4 p.m. Wednesday, several people called 911 after hearing gunshots in the 22900 block of 30th Avenue South, said Des Moines police Sgt. Dave Mohr.
He said the police investigation found that a 31-year-old Renton man had reported his car stolen on Jan. 18 and two days later, the vehicle was located by Des Moines police officers, said Mohr. The owner asked that the car not be impounded and he went to his vehicle’s location on his motorcycle to await a tow truck.
While the 31-year-old was waiting, an SUV pulled up, driven by a 30-year-old Kent man with a 45-year-old Tukwila man as a passenger, said Mohr. The 45-year-old got out of the SUV and struck up a conversation with the Renton man about his motorcycle, he said.
The 45-year-old then pulled a gun and demanded the younger man’s backpack, pocketing his weapon as the Renton man handed over the bag, said Mohr. The 31-year-old then pulled out his own gun and the 45-year-old grabbed his gun and fired once, missing the 31-year-old; the 31-year-old returned fire, striking the 45-year-old multiple times, according to Mohr…
Mohr said the 31-year-old was legally in possession of a handgun and had a valid concealed pistol license at the time of the fatal shooting.

The second attempted robbery happened just after noon when a man entered Yeager’s with a hammer and tried to smash one of the glass cases holding several firearms, said Justin Simpson, the store’s general manager. After several unsuccessful attempts at smashing the case, Simpson said the man hopped over the counter and tried to access the weapons.
A Yeager’s employee with a concealed weapons permit fired one shot from his gun, Simpson said. Bellingham Police arrived on the scene soon after and took control of the situation, evacuating the store. Simpson declined to identify the employee…
There is probable cause to arrest the 37-year-old suspect for first-degree attempted robbery, second-degree robbery and the attempted theft of a firearm, Murphy said. Further charges may be filed, she added, as he is a felon prohibited from possessing firearms and the car he was driving was stolen.

An exchange of gunfire at an East Toledo convenience store Thursday morning ended with an arrest but no injuries.
Paul A. Pratt, 59, of the 900 block was charged Friday in Toledo Municipal Court with second-degree felonious assault following the shootout with Aiman Musa, 44, the managing clerk at ZaZa’s Mart, 1110 East Broadway St. Judge Timothy Kuhlman set bond at $100,000 during his arraignment and scheduled a hearing for Feb. 5.
Mr. Musa told police sent to the store at 8:34 a.m. that Mr. Pratt, a regular customer, entered the store and began shooting at him while he worked behind the counter, then fired again when Mr. Musa pursued him outdoors. Mr. Musa, who holds a concealed-carry permit, fired a single shot in return.
No one was injured, and authorities said the incident also was captured on surveillance video…

An auto shop employee in north Fort Worth went to investigate a noise early Thursday morning, taking a handgun with him, when he saw a man pointing a shotgun at him. The employee fired toward the intruder, police said.
It’s unclear if his shot struck the intruder. The employee of the National Service Systems LLC, located in the 2200 block of Brennan Avenue, wasn’t injured.

Officers were called after 9 a.m. to the 3800 block of Stone Way North for a report of a shooting.
When police arrived, they found a man who said he had shot a person, officials said.
Law enforcement said the survivor said he was walking down the street when he was approached by a man who had crossed the street and began punching him in the head and chest.
The survivor reportedly pulled out his concealed firearm and shot the assailant.
Police said they found the suspect a few blocks away. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
