Assembly Concurrent Resolution 46

Source:

School boards across California are opposing Newsom’s student vaccine mandate. For example, all 15 El Dorado County school district signed a letter of opposition, and last night I supported a Resolution passed by the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors.

We remain the only state with this radical mandate, yet Newsom refuses to lift it. Worse, he says he’ll continue the State of Emergency as long as COVID is a threat. In other words, he plans to permanently abolish constitutional government.

As Dan Walters writes in Cal Matters, Newsom’s rationale allows the emergency to continue “indefinitely” and lets him “continue to govern by decree, further eroding the American concept of checks and balances.”

Since Newsom will never surrender emergency powers, the Legislature must act. As soon as we reconvene, I’m insisting on a vote on ACR 46, my Resolution to terminate the State of Emergency:

Resolved by the Assembly of the State of California, the Senate thereof concurring, That the Legislature, in accordance with Section 8629 of the Government Code, declares that the state of emergency proclaimed by Governor Gavin Newsom on March 4, 2020, is at an end and that the emergency powers granted to the Governor as a result of that proclamation are terminated

From the beginning, Newsom described COVID as an “opportunity for a new progressive era.” He’s used that “opportunity” to inflict on us the nation’s worst, most oppressive, and most regressive COVID era outcomes.

But we’re fighting back like never before. We’re fighting for our kids, for our freedoms, for our Constitution, for basic decency, for our state’s future.
