Newsom’s Catastrophic Corruption
PG&E has given more money to Gavin Newsom than any other politician. $700,000 over two decades. They even pay his wife’s salary.
Now, a whistleblower has come forward at the Public Utilities Commission. Alice Stebbins, the former Executive Director, says Newsom took “complete control” over the agency’s oversight of PG&E and she was ordered to sign a safety certification against her will.
“I did not want to sign this. The bottom line is I was told to sign it. You will sign this. Period,” Stebbins said. “I trusted my Governor. I trusted my commissioners. And that was a mistake.”
Yesterday, I held a press conference to announce my plans for an investigation. I’m also reviving legislation to reduce the utility’s political influence. The Newsom-PG&E racket is California politics in a nutshell: Corruption is ruining our state.
Meanwhile, Newsom is using our teachers and nurses as political pawns, imposing new mandates that no other state has. As I said at the debate, to make the case Newsom got COVID right you’d have to make the case all 49 other states got it wrong.
That’s a case that’s impossible to make. Which is why I’m increasingly hopeful that as voters face the most important question in our state’s history – “Shall Gavin Newsom be recalled (removed) from the office of Governor?” – a resounding majority will make the right choice.
