The Founders Vindicated

Source:

When James Gallagher and I sued Gavin Newsom on June 11, 2020, the main issue was the separation of powers. Newsom was already using the “emergency” to institute a one-man rule that upended America’s founding principles. (Video of our trial victory is here.)

We believed that if COVID policy had to go through the Legislature – even our radical Legislature – there’d be much less damage. Two years later, the fate of the “Vaccine Work Group” bills is vindicating this belief:

  • AB 455: statewide vaccine passport – defeated
  • AB 999: statewide employer mandate – defeated
  • AB 999: (Wicks): statewide mandate – defeated
  • SB 999: mask mandates and police defunding twice withdrawn

Only one bill has passed a committee; several may not even be heard. They’ll be dead if they don’t pass out of committee by April 29, so this is the time to make our voices heard.

(On this note, I was honored to recently give the keynote address for the Freedom Foundation on “patriotic citizenship.” You can read my speech here, about the historic opportunity we now have to redeem the great American experiment of self-government.)

Meanwhile, we’ve now learned that the two recent Sacramento mass killings involved a man protected by the Sanctuary State and a man released early from prison. Yet Newsom, just back from his tropical vacation, only wants to talk about more gun laws.

My bills to address the real problems will be heard soon. The Sanctuary State repeal will be voted on April 28, followed by a new vote on my legislation to overturn Prop. 47. We’ll also be forcing another vote on the gas tax.

All of this is going on as inflation hits 8.5 percent, the Biden Administration reaches a new low every day, and voting in our race for Congress starts in three weeks. Our battles are so important right now, and I’m so grateful to be fighting with you.
