We’re Number 1
Congratulations to Governor Newsom. California officially has the highest unemployment rate in the United States.
We now account for fully a third of the nation’s jobless claims. Gas prices are also higher here than anywhere, as high as $7.59 a gallon.
And shorter showers are on the way. Newsom has declared a drought emergency because reservoirs are at record lows – even though a few years ago they were overflowing and water still flows abundantly into the ocean.
Speaking of the ocean: Newsom is refusing calls by industry experts to alleviate the backlog at our ports by suspending AB 5. The Governor’s corruption is now a national crisis.
Florida’s ports, by contrast, are modernized, in operation 24/7, and unencumbered by senseless regulations. Incidentally, Florida also has the lowest COVID “case rate” in the United States, which Newsom himself has suggested is the measure of success.
And remember Newsom’s farcical vaccine lotteries? Where he spun a giant wheel, spent $116 million, and compared himself to Oprah for “giving away money.” A new study finds they had no effect. And he says the Recall “wasted” tax dollars.
But as far as waste goes, there is simply no match for “high speed” rail. Just last week, we learned of another billion in cost overruns.
Meanwhile, out-of-control crime is causing Walgreens to close five more stores in San Francisco and a Recall of the district attorney appears to have qualified for the ballot. Similarly in Los Angeles, 31 cities have passed a vote of no confidence in district attorney George Gascon.
At Ronald Reagan’s inauguration as Governor, he said California “should never take second place.” 55 years later, Newsom has us leading the nation – in all the wrong ways.
