Where’s Gavin?
I don’t know where Gavin Newsom is and won’t speculate. But it’s pretty strange for the Governor to disappear for 12 days without explanation.
After suddenly cancelling his trip to Scotland for the UN Climate Change conference, Newsom has not been seen. The AP reports that “Newsom’s office did not respond to questions Friday about what the governor has been doing this week.”
Yesterday, Jennifer Siebel Newsom told those in the media asking questions to “get a life,” then quickly deleted the tweet.
Newsom has a habit of disappearing amidst scandal. Last August, he went missing for a week following a COVID “data glitch,” reappearing only after his Public Health Director resigned. This June, he fell off the radar when NPR revealed he’d lied about wildfire prevention efforts.
Governors work for the people, so an unexplained absence is always a matter of public concern. But that’s especially true for a governor who has claimed sole authority to control the lives of millions of people through his own “State of Emergency.”
That State of Emergency, by the way, just passed the 20-month mark. My Resolution to terminate it still has not received a vote nor has Newsom answered my letter asking him to justify it.
So one-man rule continues even though nobody knows where that one man is.
