Half of Americans are just one paycheck away from financial disaster
As we’ve said in the past, debt is a drug and it is highly addictive. Middle America consumes piles and piles of the stuff. Eventually however the bills come due, one way or another.
Consider also how much easier things would be for many if their tax burden was reduced by half. But government employee pensions must be funded.

A study from home repair service HomeServe USA found that roughly 50% of consumers either have nothing set aside to cover an emergency or less than $500 put away. And research from the Federal Reserve has indicated that roughly 4 in 10 Americans couldn’t afford a $400 emergency.
