CJ Kilmer joins Brett to share his impressive story of personal transformation over the last year.

CJ had struggled with his weight for 20 years, and in the last nine months he has lost 125 pounds, has taken up martial arts, goes on regular 5+ mile runs, and he continues to make gains in the gym.

CJ will go into detail about his holistic hot-rodding approach to this enriching and potentially life-saving transformation.

A majority of our conversation deals with resolving inner conflict. We’ll walk two paths to do this, both focused on the idea that we are made up of several different, sometimes conflicting, parts of self.

The first path is the simpler of the two. Cognitive distortion. We discuss the impact of subtle but persistent forms of negative self-talk. These "poisons" include cynicism, negativism, defeatism and escapism. CJ and I compare notes on this idea; he mentions Steven Pressfield’s "Resistance with a capital R" while I reference the work of Theodore Bryant (Self-Discipline in 10 days: How To Go From Thinking to Doing).

The second path is a discussion of Internal Family Systems and what self-sabotage and self-leadership are really all about.
